Not what the PACs want

You will get mailers, mailers and more mailers from the incumbents.

Why? Because some come from political action committees involved in our local campaigns.

These PAC donations come from many places that fund these mailers and not much, if any, from local residents giving money to their candidate.

The PACs are donors that would like to maintain the status quo; they know these candidates and can count on them for more than the normal considerations and business.

Now, look at another mailer endorsement from Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon: He endorses Frank Ferry in the City Council election, who admittedly gave Laurie Ender $12,000 of illegal campaign funds in the last election.

Laurene Weste and Marsha McLean also receive PAC contributions for mailers.

TimBen Boydston served an appointed replacement on the City Council for 16 months for Cameron Smyth.

At that time he gave his word that he would not run as an incumbent in 2008, and he did not.

During those 16 months on the council, Boydston learned may valuable lessons and the workings of our city government. Therefore, he already has some experience as a councilman and can hit the ground running in his new job.

After those 16 months on the council Boydston did not just go away, he stayed involved in local neighborhood issues like the hospital expansion, cut-through traffic in residential neighborhoods and high-density projects that would abut existing nearby homes.

I’ll take Boydston, a “for the people attitude” and his grassroots campaign that is funded by concerned local donations anytime.
