After winning the Air Assault Passing Tournament in both of the past two seasons and three of the past four times, Valencia High School is off to another great start in trying to win this year's tournament.

At Bonita High School in La Verne, the Vikings allowed a touchdown on the last play of the game, which busted their undefeated bubble on the first day of the two-day passing league.

The loss to Glendora was the only blemish on a day in which Valencia beat Crescenta Valley, La Serna, Los Altos and AB Miller of Fontana.

"We had a lot of kids step up," said Valencia head coach Larry Muir. "Mike Hernandez had a good day. He's a wide receiver and defensive back. He's definitely a starter."

Muir said quarterback Dominick Solley also had a pretty good day. Hart High School went 2-3 in the tournament, beating both Diamond Bar and Beverly Hills.

"We didn't have a good day," Indians head coach Mike Herrington said. "Hopefully we'll have a better day (Saturday)."
