Captain Paul Becker was recently named as the new Chief of Police for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and officially took over command at 12:01 a.m. Monday morning. Captain Becker brings nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department to his new post.

Captain Becker is a Santa Clarita resident and served since 2008 as a Lieutenant for the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau, gang task force, unsolved murder team and active murder team. During his nearly three decade career, he has served in several divisions within the Sheriff's Department including: contract law; transit services; robbery and assaults team; Palmdale, Avalon, Carson and Lakewood Stations; as well as Men's Central Jail.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be named as the new police chief at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. I believe my experience and my enthusiasm for this new challenge, combined with the great team at the SCV Station will be a benefit to the community," commented Captain Becker.

"Captain Becker brings a broad range of experience to the job and will be a tremendous asset for the Santa Clarita Valley Station," added Ken Pulskamp, City Manager.

Captain Becker hits the ground running with immediate interviews scheduled with the SCVTV Newsmaker program and the Signal Newspaper editorial board today and tomorrow. Captain Becker will be introduced and begin to outline his concepts, goals, and vision for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and public safety in the city of Santa Clarita and the entire Santa Clarita Valley.
