Are you embarrassed?

Which Santa Clarita City Council member is an embarrassment to the city? I have been following the many articles regarding Bob Kellar’s statement that he is a “proud racist.” I know Kellar and he is not a racist. He used that divisive statement as irony.

And what is an embarrassment to the city? Is Frank Ferry’s bloviating fury an embarrassment to the city? Are Marsha McLean’s inane questions about projects presented to the City Council for approval an embarrassment to the city? Perhaps Ferry’s elongated, heated passion or McLean’s odd comments are — or are not — an embarrassment.

However, I do prefer that the members of our City Council seek what is best for our city and not what is best for their reelection.

I know Kellar has been a tireless servant of our city for many years and his comments are neither embarrassing nor self serving.

It does seem peculiar to me that the Chamber of Commerce and our local elected officials — state and federal — are backing the incumbents in the upcoming election. I wonder if they took the time to get to know the candidates running against the incumbents.

I do not think they did get to know them and, if so, that is an embarrassment to the city.

I will vote for David Gauny. Gauny is sincere and polished, not given to anger nor is he befuddling. I believe Gauny is motivated to serve the city of Santa Clarita, not to enhance his resume.

I am a 32-year resident of Santa Clarita and I urge your readers to listen to and vote for David Gauny for City Council.
