About 1,000 Valencia residents will lose power Monday while Southern California Edison upgrades its equipment to improve reliability, an Edison official said Friday.

Though he could not specify an exact geographic area, Region Manager Chris Coronel said the planned outage will affect residents living along Valencia Boulevard.

The full outage is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

"For a full outage, that's typically the worst case scenario," he said. "Often times it's up before that."

The National Weather Service is forecasting a hot, sunny Monday, with a high of 97 degrees.

Coronel said all the affected customers were notified of the planned outage.
