AP odd news
Police say woman hid nearly $26,000 in bra
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A fraud bust, indeed: Spokane County sheriff's deputies said a woman was hiding nearly $26,000 in her bra when she was booked into jail for investigation of theft. Lukeisha A. Harris was one of three Seattle-area residents arrested Friday as part of an alleged fraud ring. Deputies said they used phony Oregon driver's licenses and counterfeit credit cards to obtain cash advances from Spokane banks.

Sheriff's spokesman Dave Reagan said the three were arrested after a worker at one bank reported that they tried to obtain money using a stolen credit card. The investigators followed the ring to two other banks before making the bust.

Reagan said that during a search at the Spokane County Jail, guards found that the 24-year-old Harris - who is 6 feet tall and 400 pounds - had the cash hidden in her bra, along with bank receipts.

It was not immediately known Saturday if Harris or the other suspects had lawyers.

Woman accused of stealing plane and ditching it
SANTA ROSA (AP) — A Santa Rosa woman was arrested for allegedly stealing her landlord’s airplane, then abandoning it in a field after it ran out of gas. Authorities said a 27-year-old woman had access to the Piper Cherokee because she had been borrowing it for piloting lessons. But she allegedly took the plane without permission Tuesday from a hangar at the Sonoma County Airport.

Authorities said she landed it in a Modoc County ranch field when she ran out of gas, didn’t report the incident and hiked to a nearby hotel to spend the night.

Curious residents called authorities about the abandoned plane, and deputies arrested the woman the next morning on suspicion of grand theft and aircraft theft.

Modoc County Undersheriff Gary Palmer said the woman was found with keys to the plane and admitted to taking it.

Blood-selling Packers fan voted to team's fan Hall
GREEN BAY, Wis. - A man who said his loyalty to the Green Bay Packers helped save his life has been voted into the team's Fan Hall of Fame. The team announced the honor Saturday for 79-year-old Jim Becker. He attended Packers games for 56 years. Becker said he and his wife raised 11 kids, so money was tight. To afford his season tickets without taking money from his family, he began selling his blood for $15 per pint.

His doctor later found that Becker's father died at age 43 of a condition in which the blood retains too much iron. The only treatment is to remove the iron by giving blood.

By that time Becker had sold 145 pints to pay for his season tickets. He said if he hadn't, he too may have died young.
