Here's the latest Crime Watch roundup direct from the Sheriff's Log at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station:

Copper Stolen
On Feb. 6 three businesses on Summit Circle in Canyon Country reported that brass fire connectors and brass and copper water meters were stolen from their premises. The victims said the items were stolen sometime between Jan. 22 and Feb. 5.

The total value of the items is approximately $3000.

Sheriff’s deputies think the three crimes are connected, and say that theft of brass and copper is common because the metals fetch high dollar value when sold as scrap.

Money Stolen
A resident of Peppercorn Drive in Saugus reported that $1000 was stolen from an unlocked safe under bed sometime between Dec. 25 and Feb. 6, when she was out of town.

The victim said that none of her roommates had a key to her room, and that there were no signs of forced entry. However, she said that her mother had stayed in her room the night of Jan. 27.

The mother denied stealing the money and said she knew nothing about it. No arrests were made.

Vandals Strike Twice
On Feb. 2 two separate incidents of graffiti were reported in Castaic. The first was on a cinderblock wall on Ridge Route Road and the second was on a wall and a trailer on Violin Canyon Road.

Since the graffiti appeared at the same time and in the same color paint, deputies believe it was done by the same crew. No suspects were located. Several hundred dollars of damage was done.
