Santa Clarita is looking for community members 16 years of age and older to volunteer at the 2010 Cowboy Festival, taking place at various locations across the city from Wednesday, April 21 through Sunday, April 25, 2010.

Those interested in volunteering must attend a mandatory volunteer roundup on Monday, March 15 at 7 p.m. at Santa Clarita City Hall's Council Chambers to learn more about the variety of positions available.

A host of volunteer opportunities are planned during the Cowboy Festival weekend at Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio and other kick-off events taking place prior to the festival weekend, including shuttle hosts, cowboy safety patrol and more.

Volunteer positions are also complete with perks: all Cowboy Festival volunteers will receive free admission to the event for the entire festival weekend.

"Volunteering is a great way to support the local community, earn school credit and learn new skills," Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste said. "In addition to receiving free admission to the festival, volunteers also enjoy an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the award-winning event and Melody Ranch Motion Picture Studio."

Santa Clarita Council Chambers is on the first floor of City Hall, 23920 Valencia Blvd., Valencia 91355.

For more information or to RSVP, contact Susana Coronel, volunteer services supervisor for the city's Community Services Division, at (661) 250-3726 or scoronel@santa-clarita.com.
