Hart High School's Trevor Bauer was among 34 players that advanced to the second round of trials in the 18-and-under Tournament of Stars, held from June 16-23 in Cary, N.C.
The next round will be held in Phoenix, Ariz.
Bauer pitched six innings and stuck out 11 batters.
Further selection occurs to the 18-man Team USA, which begins playing international competition before travelling to Canada for the international tournament.
The 18-and-under national team consists of the nation's top players of ages 17-18.
Montgomery premiers in pros
Hart graduate and Kansas City Royals pitcher Michael Montgomery will make his pro debut today for the Surprise Royals in the Arizona League.
Montgomery was the Royals' 36th overall pick in June 5th's Major League Baseball Draft.
