City wins architecture excellence award
The city of Santa Clarita was presented with a Los Angeles Architectural Award of Excellence last week for the Santa Clarita Transit Maintenance Facility for outstanding architecture in the Civic Sustainability category.

The facility is certified with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design and also has straw bale-insulated exterior walls, recycled building materials and water-efficient landscaping.

"The City is extremely honored to be recognized throughout the Los Angeles community for our leadership in sustainable design and proud to showcase our eco-friendly LEED gold certified facility" said Robert Newman, the city's director of public works.
