Motorists are advised that beginning Tuesday March 2, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works will implement a series of freeway closures for the I-5 freeway both southbound and northbound near Hasley Canyon Road in the community of Castaic.

The closures are necessary as work continues on the $32 million Hasley Canyon Road - Interstate 5 Interchange Project.

The northbound I-5 freeway is scheduled for full closures on Tuesday, March 2 and Friday, March 5 from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m.

The detour for the northbound I-5 traffic will begin at exit 126 west, continue south on Commerce Center Drive, east on Henry Mayo Drive and north on The Old Road to the northbound I-5 on-ramp at Lake Hughes Road.

The southbound I-5 freeway is scheduled for full closures on Wednesday, March 3 and Thursday, March 4 from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m. The detour for the southbound I-5 traffic will exit at Lake Hughes Road off-ramp and continue south on The Old Road to the southbound Route 5 on-ramp, just north of Rye Canyon.

In addition to the overnight closures, the Hasley Canyon northbound off-ramp will be closed on Tuesday, March 2 at midnight and will remain closed for a period of one week to allow for reconstruction of the ramp. Message boards will be posted to guide motorists through the detours. California Highway Patrol officers will also be at the site to assist motorists further if necessary.
