Air Force Airman 1st Class Franklin B. Sherwood graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
The airman recently completed an intensive, eight-week program.

The program included training in military discipline and studies.

He also studied Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Alba Cole of Valencia, and grandson of Elizabeth Sherwood of Amherst, Mass.

Sherwood graduated in 2002 from Highland High School in Palmdale.

He received a bachelor's degree in 2009 from California State University, Fullerton.
