Gays in the military would be dangerous

President Obama's intent, announced in his State of the Union address, to overturn the current ban on homosexual activity in the military, is a dangerous shift in law and policy - at a time in which we are in the middle of two wars.

Forcing the members of our military to be used in a laboratory of social experimentation (to pay off a political debt to the homosexual lobby) is an unnecessary and unwise action on the part of the commander-in-chief.

Our military exists to fight and win wars - not to engage in radical social re-engineering.

Forcing our soldiers to cohabit with people who view them as sexual objects would inevitably lead to increased sexual tension, sexual harassment and even sexual assault.

Americans are a tolerant people; but that doesn't mean we have to jeopardize our nation's security to approve allowing those with same-sex attraction to openly act out their homosexual proclivities while in the military.

Serving in our nation's armed forces is not a civil right. Military readiness and unit cohesiveness are more important than advancing the social agenda of any special-interest group.
