California Flyers Kamikazes won a national championship title, banner and first-place trophy in the Small Junior Level 2 Division during the 2010 Cheersport National Championship in Atlanta from Feb. 5 to 7.

During the same competition, the California Flyers X-treme team captured fifth place in the Small Senior Level 4 Division, one of the toughest categories at the Cheersport event.

The competition included 40 athletes from Santa Clarita’s California Flyers cheerleading program who joined more than 850 teams from all over the country. More than 30,000 cheerleaders from across the nation took part in the competition.

The team credits the win to their teamwork and California Flyers coach and choreographer, Shelly Gramatky, who has a reputation for good choreography.

On Jan. 31 the X-treme team took first place at the CheerPros Competition held at the Long Beach Pyramid. The team beat out six of the top programs in the state of California.
