Temperatures in the Santa Clarita Valley are expected to cool off a little bit today as last week's blistering heat wave passes.

Bill Hoffer, spokesman for the Oxnard office of the National Weather Service, said today will mark the beginning of a cooling trend.

"It looks like we're coming down," he said about the temperatures.

However, the National Weather Service forecasts the possibility of some spots hitting triple-digits for a portion of the day. The high is expected to reach 105 degrees with 6 to 9 mph winds.

Monday's temperatures, along with the rest of the week, will dip into the 90s under sunny skies, the service reports.

The cool down in temperatures comes after days of 100-degree weather, which prompted the National Weather Service to issue excessive heat and red flag warnings. Despite the brutal heat, no records were broken.
