Kellar should be applauded

Apologize? Are you kidding me?

It's about time someone locally spoke out publicly about our illegal immigration problem. Yes, it's crippling us financially and culturally. It's a fact, folks.

The operative word here is "illegal." When you cross our borders without permission, you are here illegally and are not entitled to any benefits - period, end of discussion. It's very black and white in my book; no gray area.

I grew up in New York City, one of the largest melting pots in our country. I had and still have friends of all colors, religions and races.

Of all the immigrant families I grew up with, whether they were Italian, Puerto Rican, German or Chinese, the vast majority were proud to come to our country, get a job, work hard, learn our language and obey our laws. What happened to that pride and philosophy?

I say we've lost it along the way by liberalizing too many of our laws. Shame on Meg Whitman and our local spineless politicians who don't have the guts to stand up to protect our country.

I admire Bob Kellar for saying out loud what so many of my friends and family feel across the country. No need to apologize to anyone, Bob. You should be applauded.

I welcome anyone to this country - all I ask is that you work hard, learn our language and love our country.

P.S. I am not a racist and neither is Bob Kellar for making his controversial statement.
