Interstate 5 to close for construction

On Tuesday and Wednesday next week, the northbound and the southbound Interstate 5 will be closed for five hours near Hasley Canyon Road in Castaic due to construction.

The closures are necessary for the $32 million Hasley Canyon Road I-5 Interchange Project.

The northbound I-5 is scheduled for full closure from midnight to 5 a.m. on Tuesday. The detour for northbound traffic will begin at Exit 126 West, continue south on Commerce Center Drive, east on Henry Mayo Drive and north on The Old Road to the northbound freeway onramp at Lake Hughes Road.

The southbound I-5 is scheduled for full closure from midnight Monday to 5 a.m. on Wednesday The detour for southbound freeway traffic will begin at the Lake Hughes offramp and continue south on The Old Road to the southbound freeway onramp just north of Rye Canyon.

In addition to the overnight closures, the Hasley Canyon northbound offramp will be closed on Tuesday at midnight and will remain closed for one week to allow for reconstruction of the ramp.

Message boards will be posted to direct motorists through the detours. California Highway Patrol officers also will be at the site to further assist motorists if necessary.
