Two Hart district teachers have been promoted to assistant principal and will take on their new duties July 1.

Carolyn Hoffman, who has been a teacher at Golden Valley High School since 2004, is the new assistant principal at Golden Valley, and Samuel Yuhan, who has been a teacher at Arroyo Seco Junior High since 2007, will move up to the assistant principal position at Rancho Pico Junior High.

The appointments were approved during Wednesday's meeting of the William S. Hart Union High School District governing board.

Hoffman joined the Hart district in 2000 at Golden Oak Adult School. Since moving to Golden Valley High, she has been cheer advisor, Safe School Ambassador coordinator, Family Group leader, a member of the school's accreditation focus group, and co-writer of the school's California Distinguished School application.

Yuhan joined the staff of Arroyo Seco Junior High in 2007 as a science and math teacher and team leader. He also served as an administrative intern, filling in as acting assistant principal when required.

Yuhan was a member of Arroyo Seco's Technology Committee, an intervention teacher and a liaison between team teachers and the School Site Council. He was at the board meeting with his wife and daughter.
