Los Angeles County and William S. Hart Park, will host the second annual Black History Month celebration this week.

The project features historical exhibits produced by Recreation Services Leader Albert L. Ewing. His “Genesis Project I” is a photographic overview of the history of the African American Experience in America.

This is also an opportunity for black and non-black artists who create works dealing with African-American themes, history and culture to exhibit recent works. Art is welcomed with the one single restriction that the art must be deemed suitable for public display and not obscene or offensive by the show’s coordinators. Interested artists can drop off work from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and between noon and 4 p.m. on Friday.

Public viewings will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be music and special presentations at 1 p.m. Saturday. The viewings will take place at William S. Hart Park, Hart Hall, 24151 Newhall Ave. The event is free to the public.
