California 25th District Congressman Howard "Buck" McKeon made a surprise appearance at the Santa Clarita Republican Women Federated (SCRWF) monthly club meeting on the heels of his first annual Women's Conference held on Saturday at Collage of the Canyons.

Congressman McKeon spoke and took questions for 45 minutes from club members on his role in Congress regarding illegal immigration reform and reviewed pending House of Representatives legislation on the issue. Santa Clarita has recently been in the statewide and national spotlight in the illegal immigration reform debate.

SCRWF monthly club meetings include Legislator reports from Santa Clarita area elected official's offices: City Council, State Assembly, State Senate, and Congress. Everyone in attendance was surprised when Congressman McKeon arrived to personally give his report, which is usually delivered by his staff members.

"It was a privilege and an honor to have Congressman McKeon drop by our general meeting and enlighten and educate our members on this important subject " Lynn "Pepper" Parkinson, SCRWF President, said of Congressman McKeon's surprise appearance.

The Santa Clarita Republican Women Federated (SCRWF), established in 1951 is a diverse group of Republican women who come together to take political action. Members are from every age range and every walk of life from stay-at-home moms to college students, business professionals to retirees.

The club's main focus is voter registration and education. Monthly meetings are held on the third Tuesday of every month at the Stevenson Ranch IHOP and feature informative speakers on current events effecting the community, state and nation.
