Misquoting Kellar

I am disgusted with the people who claim Bob Kellar said he was a proud racist. Period.

They either did not take the time to read what he really said or they are misquoting him intentionally, some for political reasons.

First, anyone who knows Kellar, knows he is not a racist. He is one of the most decent people you could ever meet.

Second, Kellar did not introduce the word “racist” during the discussion at the Minuteman rally on Jan. 16.

That word was introduced by an apparent critic of Kellar who said, “Bob, you sound like a racist.”

In response, Kellar said, “That’s good, if that’s what you think I am because I happen to believe in America, I’m a proud racist.”

Kellar clearly was saying to his accuser, “under your definition of a racist, as a person who believes in America, I would be a racist and a proud one because I’m proud to be an American.”

He was not simply saying, “I am a proud racist.”

Kellar has deservedly received a tremendous amount of support as a member of the City Council from the citizens of Santa Clarita.

Any candidate for the council who has claimed Kellar said “I am a proud racist” is unworthy of ever being elected to sit on that council.
