Locals invited to Cross Valley Connector tour, opening in March

An open letter from Ken Pulskamp, city manager

This spring, the Santa Clarita City Council is very pleased to celebrate the culmination of nearly 10 years of hard work completing the Cross Valley Connector, an 8½-mile cross-town roadway that connects Interstate-5/Highway 126 with Highway 14 (aka the Antelope Valley Freeway) through our city.

The final leg of the roadway is the link between Golden Valley Road and Bouquet Canyon Road/Newhall Ranch Road in Canyon Country, which will officially open to the public on Saturday, March 27.

On that day, the mayor and City Council will participate in a special community celebration with our funding partners, at a special event slated for 11 a.m. To find out more or to RSVP for this event, please call (661) 255-4939.

As some of our community members will be unable to attend the Saturday event, we've scheduled a special "hard hat tour" of the new bridge for Thursday, March 18 at 4 p.m.

At this brief event, we are inviting members of the community, including you, to take a quick walking tour of the 1,100 foot-long bridge and learn about the Cross Valley Connector road.

If you would like to attend the hard hat tour, please RSVP to (661) 255-4939.

Finally, I would like to recognize our many funding and construction partners for their tireless support of this important roadway project. These include: Senator Barbara Boxer, Senator Dianne Feinstein, and Representative Howard P."Buck" McKeon; Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich, FHWA, County of Los Angeles and METRO; and Newhall Land, Centre Pointe Business Park, Centre Pointe Marketplace and Valley Business Center.

Sincerely,
Ken Pulskamp
City Manager
Santa Clarita, Calif.
