The SCV Dodger Day Committee seeks non-profit organizations, schools and community businesses to participate in the 33rd Annual Santa Clarita Valley Dodger Day on Saturday, May 8, as the Dodgers play the Colorado Rockies.

The first pitch will be tossed by SCV Chamber of Commerce Chairman John Shaffery and caught by Signal Publisher Ian Lamont.

Any organization purchasing more than 25 specially discounted event tickets may donate ticket rebates ranging from $3 to $10 to their favorite SCV non-profit group or school.

"Santa Clarita residents have supported the Dodgers for more than three decades, and we are very proud to continue this great relationship," said Josh Rawitch, director of public relations for the Dodgers. "Not only does a portion of the proceeds from Dodger Day support local schools and organizations, but it is also a way to spend a day at Dodger Stadium with neighbors and fellow community members."

Game time May 8 is 7:10 p.m. and residents are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early to enjoy the exclusive Santa Clarita Valley pre-game program, including a youth parade and National Anthem performance by an SCV resident.

"In past years, SCV Dodger Day has generated more than $10,000 annually for our local schools and non-profit organizations," said Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste. "I encourage local organizations to take advantage of this great opportunity to give to a fun cause benefitting those who need it most right here in Santa Clarita."

Tickets can be purchased in groups or individually at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex Aquatic Center, located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita 91350, or online at

Local businesses may also purchase tickets for employees, providing a fun company outing for a great cause.

"Our small business employees made an annual tradition of attending the SCV Dodger Day together," said Maureen Vaccaro, human resources adiministror for APTEK LABORATORIES in Santa Clarita. "SCV Dodger Day is a reasonably priced activity that brings our hard-working employees and their families together in a fun, affordable way."

The deadline for entries from potential National Anthem singers was April 9. The Dodgers are now evaluating the auditions, will make the final decision and announce the winner shortly.

Dodger Stadium is located at 1000 Elysian Park Avenue, Los Angeles 90012.
