The award-winning College of the Canyons Studio Jazz Ensemble big band is looking for a few good musicians, especially a drummer and a trumpet player.

The drummer should be able to swing and follow music charts and the trumpet player must have improvisation abilities.

The Jazz Ensemble rehearses on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. at COC's main campus in Pico Canyon Hall, room 202.

Directed by K.C. Manji, the players focus on big band literature from all eras including Latin and popular music, and play hundreds of original pieces, most of them arranged exclusively by Dirk Fischer, the resident arranger and Manji's predecessor as the band's director.

The Ensemble performs twice a semester at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center and COC along with numerous other venues in Southern California, and hosts the annual R.K. Downs Jazz Festival every February.

The COC Jazz Ensemble has won first place at both the Coronado Jazz Festival and the Reno Jazz Festival.

COC's main campus is located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia 91355.
