Weather Service, county fire issue fire warnings

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the Santa Clarita Valley effective until 8 p.m. Saturday due to the high temperatures and low humidity.

"If you see smoke, call 911," said Paul Hartwell, a local spokesman for the county Fire Department.

As for the heat, "Reduce activity, drink plenty of fluids and take care of the young and elderly," he said. "Whatever you do, do it early in the morning."
