Air quality in the Santa Clarita Valley reached "unhealthy" status today, according to a reported released by the South Coast Air Quality Management District. However, no official reason was released as to why the air quality was listed as unhealthy.

Due to the unhealthy air quality, Jonathan E. Fielding, L.A. County Health Officer and Public Health Director, advised SCV residents to limit vigorous, outdoor exercise to one hour or less.

Fielding also advised that schools throughout the SCV to discontinue outside physical activities for all students, teachers and administrators until conditions improve.

Also, people with asthma, heart disease or other respiratory diseases were also advised to avoid all outdoor activities.

The Air Quality Management District's unhealthy air qualify warning was limited to today.
