More truth in advertisement

There is proof of conservative civility. It is demonstrated in the fact that Joe Citizen invests time and money to be entertained, by events such as a concert, but instead gets an evening of unwelcome political views.

The civility is that the hoodwinked audience doesn't boo the "star" off of the stage and demand their money back.

Kris Kristofferson's appearance at the Santa Clarita Performing Art Center at College of the Canyons Jan. 16 was one such event. Sadly, Kristofferson did not quell my reservation of his being the monotoned, washed-up retread I had hoped to avoid, but moreover, he couldn't get through his first guttural utterances without his anti-Iraq war opinion (apparently he has missed Afghanistan).

Kristofferson became more political before the end of the first hour, and naturally took a shot at former President George W. Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney. His performance was so pathetically lackluster, some people walked out before the first hour was over and many, including me, bolted at intermission time.

Likewise, Art Garfunkel was at the PAC in 2009. He couldn't let the night go without a deriding reference to the Bush Administration, either.

As another example, Bette Midler is performing in Las Vegas. Three couples I know of, who saw her on different evenings, all said she used her show to disparage George W. Bush and pretty much anything conservative.

Audiences spend valuable dollars and time to be entertained. The majority of us do not want to hear any performer's political tripe irrespective of whom they like, support or despise.

We deserve to be informed buyers. Let us know before ticket purchasing the content of the show, and let us decide if we want to pay to listen to personal political bilge or music.

In other words, let's have some truth in advertising.

Is there any possibility of inquiring about content before these "stars" are booked and the information be published for consumers?
