Charlotte Van Houten, left, and Audric Paris, students of Huckleberry Creative Learning Center, finish the robots they made during a Monday robotics class at the Newhall center.

Local kids at the Huckleberry Creative Learning Center in Newhall spent last Monday making robots as part of the robotics class taught by Eric Rettke.

Step-by-step, kids learned how to design and assemble robots, mastering the elementary concepts of making metal and plastic move. Most of the students in the class were beginners.

The Huckleberry Creative Learning Center is an enrichment center for charter and homeschool families.

Along with math, English and science classes, the center offers cooking, debate, pottery and acting classes.
