Be thankful residents

The comments by Steve Lunetta (“Be grateful for what we have here,” Jan. 11) are worthy of acknowledgment by our citizens. We are so fortunate to have leadership in Santa Clarita (for 40 years our family has lived here) in schools, law enforcement, public works, public officials, local businesses and public events. These all add up to a “good life.”

Think about all of the above-mentioned advantages and more, which have made our valley a prime destination of many thousands who can see there is a promotion of traditional community values here. Our elected officials have upheld these values as they govern.

It disturbs me greatly that many “escapees” from mismanaged areas of Los Angeles County and elsewhere are often critical of the very leadership that has made us such a desirable community. Why is that? Are they seekers of “change” for change’s sake? We can observe that fallacy in Washington, D.C.

Be alert, Santa Clarita residents. Recognize and be grateful that your community has leaders with traditional values who plan for level-headed progress and who listen to the citizens.

In addition, we are fortunate to have our own local newspaper, that keeps us informed and allows us to speak out. We are a unique community and should be grateful.
