Proud to be an American

I’m bursting with pride to be an American.

Did you hear about the American Christian missionaries living in Haiti, loving and ministering for years to the Haitian people’s spiritual needs?

Did you see the United States Naval Ship Comfort proudly streaming to Haiti to render surgical and medical help to Haitians’ broken bodies?

This tragic earthquake occurred mid-week and I have no doubt that on Sunday in churches across this nation, voices will be lifted up in unison for those who are still suffering in Haiti.

U.S. goodwill is and has been flowing for these people for some time.

May this tragedy be used for good to end this nation’s years-long struggle with poverty.

Jesus said: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matt. 22:37-39)

I am — and always have been — so very proud of the goodness in America, displayed for all nations to see where our strength really lies.

It lies in our religious freedom, manifested in benevolent acts of charity, given out of love, to those who cannot help themselves. Not for our glory (very great praise) but for His glory. Tragically and sadly, secular, socialist and communist nations can’t claim the same.
