Southbound lanes of Interstate 5 were closed for about 20 minutes Monday morning to remove a big rig truck that drove up an embankment in the center divider a few hundred yards south of the Calgrove Boulevard exit, California Highway Patrol officers said.
CHP Patrol Sgt. Rick Miler said the truck driver lost control of his big rig at around 8:30 a.m. after hitting his breaks to slow down for traffic.

The driver "hydroplaned" and the back of the truck swung around and went up an embankment in the center divider, he said.

"There were no injuries, he didn't hit any other cars," Miler said. "We got lucky."

Southbound lanes on 1-5 were shut down for about 20 minutes to remove the truck from the freeway, Miler said. Lanes were opened at around 9:15 a.m., he said.
