Broken promises

President Barack Obama emphatically promised those making less than $250,000 a year they would see no tax increases of any kind.

On Jan. 7, the Daily News reported Obama told the House Democrats they have to give up their stance against taxing high-end health insurance plans as part of passing the health care bill.

Anthem Blue Cross PPOs fall into that category. The middle class, including myself, who make far less than $250,000 annually, have those type plans.

Obama also promised: “If you like the plan you have you can keep it.” As a matter of simple logic, health insurance premiums will have to increase to cover all the uninsured, regardless of preconditions.

So for most of us the tax increase and the increase in premiums will make our current health insurance policies unaffordable.

As further proof of the pending hit on middle-class health care plans, the same Daily News report stated unions are against the tax increase as well. They know it threatens the affordability of their health care plans.

Middle-class Americans are not going to benefit, regardless of their assumptions.

Last week, key powerful Democrats announced their retirements. They know what is about to unfold with this health care bill and would rather not face their constituency.

Furthermore, they see Obama’s historical plummet in popularity polls.

They know they are acting in defiance of the American people.

“Hope and Change.” The “hope” represents the hope we survive until 2012. The “change” equals the disposable income you‘ll have left.
