Menchie's Frozen Yogurt in Newhall is holding a relief fundraiser for Haiti right now until 11 tonight.

Five percent of the store's sales will go to Red Cross Haitian Relief.

The store will also have a box for customer donations to the Red Cross. Anything can be donated, including blankets and clothes.

"One of the other Menchies franchises suggested we do this to support the relief efforts," said Newhall franchise owner John Spishak in a note on The Signal's Facebook page. "Since we have opened in Newhall/Canyon Country we have tried to support the community by fundraising and supporting various Santa Clarita-based groups.

"Now we have a chance to help out another part of the world that has problems more serious than any of us will, hopefully, ever go through," Spishak said. "It seems like a given that if we can help, we will. It is an honor to join this cause."

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt is located at 26865 Sierra Hwy., Newhall 91321, near the corner of Sierra Highway and Via Princessa.
