The William S. Hart Union High School District is accepting applications from citizens interested in filling vacancies on its Measure V Citizens Oversight Committee.

The committee reviews use of funds from the local school construction bond passed by voters in 2001 and reports to the public on whether the funds are spent as required by law.

The committee by law must have a minimum of seven members, who serve for two-year terms and a maximum of two consecutive terms.

The committee currently has 10 members whose terms expire in February and will need at least four new members to meet the legal minimum.

The committee meets on Monday evenings on a monthly basis, with additional subcommittee meetings as needed.

Members represent a cross-section of the community and cannot be employees, vendors, contractors or consultants to the Hart district.

The district is particularly interested in members who represent business organizations, senior citizens, taxpayer organizations and Hart District parent organizations-categories required by law.

Applications are available at the district office at 21515 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita 91350, or can be downloaded from the district Web site at bit.ly/7GlVon. A copy can also be requested by calling (661) 259-0033, ext. 271.

The deadline for applications is 4 p.m. Feb. 26, 2010.
