Santa Clarita Valley high school seniors who are considering careers in the field of education are invited to apply for scholarships offered by the SCV Education Foundation.

Application packets are available in local schools, and application instructions are available online at http://www.scveducationfoundation.org/.

The foundation intends to award scholarships totaling $13,000 in 2010, which may be given as a single award to one student or may be distributed as multiple awards to several recipients.

High school graduates entering any college as a full-time student in pursuit of a four-year degree are eligible, including those who plan to attend a community college first.

Scholarships will be awarded to students whose personal goals, college major and declared career path indicate future success in a field related to education.

Finalists will be interviewed Thursday afternoon, April 15, and the winners will be presented at the foundation's annual Teacher Tribute celebration April 22 in the Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons.

Scholarship applications must be postmarked by April 2, 2010, to be considered. More information on the scholarships or on foundation programs is available at the foundation's Web site or by calling Executive Director Ann Unger at (661) 414-4465.
