The GRANDS (Giving Respect & Nurturing to Deserving Seniors) group of volunteers will hold a free E-Waste Recycling Day at the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center on Sunday, Jan. 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Center officials urge residents to take their unused, outdated or broken electronics for environmentally safe recycling that will also raise money for the GRANDS' Senior Center refurbishing effort.

Items accepted include computer monitors and towers, keyboards, laptops, mice, TVs/plasma screens/CRT/LCD monitors, stereo systems, speakers, copiers, calculators, cell phones and telephones.

In 2009, the community recycled two huge truckloads of electronic waste at this event.

Electronics are recycled by Electronic Waste International, a licensed California-authorized collector of universal waste electronic devices for reuse and safe disposal.

The SCV Senior Center is located at 22900 Market Street, Newhall 91321.
