In a recent study performed by HF& H Consultants LLC of Newport Beach, the city of Santa Clarita was shown to have the lowest commercial waste collection services among Los Angeles County's 88 cities, with a rate of $67.04 per month for weekly three cubic yard bin collection service.

The study reviewed both residential and commercial rates in all of Los Angeles County's 88 cities, studying each city's monthly rate for its residential and commercial customers.

The city of Santa Clarita has a contract with Burrtec Industries for the collection of commercial waste in the city, also offering commercial customers free and unlimited recycling services. For residential waste, yard waste collection and unlimited recycling collection, the city of Santa Clarita contracts with Waste Management.

"I'm gratified to see that Santa Clarita's rates for commercial waste services are the lowest in the county and our residential waste services are among the county's lowest," said Ken Pulskamp, Santa Clarita's city manager.

"I'm particularly pleased that we were able to negotiate great contracts for our businesses and our residents that provide a lot of other services including bulky item pick ups, Christmas tree recycling, unlimited recycling for both residential and commercial clients, and a variety of new services like sharps disposal, used clothing recycling, and manure collections," he said. "These programs go a long way toward reducing the amount of waste our city sends to the landfill."
