Regarding "Hanukkah began at sundown" (The Signal, Dec. 11):

Thank you for a lovely article in The Signal about Hanukkah.

Friday, Dec. 11, at sundown was a long-awaited evening for the Jewish community. It was the first night to light the first candle on the menorah and for the kids to receive one of their eight gifts and for latke (potato pancake) lovers to indulge.

Latkes are a fun food that can be garnished with salt, sugar, sour cream, apple sauce or preserves. Any way you eat them they are a joy.

"Let the latkes roll."
