Alexis Anne Williams was born at 12:47 a.m. Friday, said Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital spokesman Gary Jacobs. She weighed 6 pounds 15 ounces and was 19 ¾ inches long, he said.
Her mother Geanie Williams put her in a red stocking, using it like a blanket, before cradling her daughter in her arms Friday afternoon.
She was in labor for about 5 hours before giving birth, said Henry Mayo nurse Lisa Lavizani.
Williams said she was born about a week premature. She had hoped her daughter would be born after Christmas so that she could spend Friday with her 20-month-old son, she said.
“I guess she had her own plan,” Williams said.
