The best of Escape from 2009.

If you were clever enough to be a Signal subscriber in 2009 you benefitted from Escape's weekly coverage of what was happening in the Santa Clarita Valley and beyond.

We clued you in on concerts, plays, amusement parks, restaurants, festivals, haunts and more. With your Escape under your arm you were prepared to venture out into an otherwise confusing world, confident that we would lead you through it all.

Here are your Escape editor's picks for the best issues of Escape from 2009.

Holiday Light Tour XVI
Dec. 11 - Dec. 17

My pick for the best Escape of 2009 is from Dec. 11, the Holiday Light Tour issue. Having been the Escape editor for nearly a full year, I can think of no other cover story that incorporated more color and community spirit than the Holiday Light Tour XVI.

The annual tour allows your Signal staffers to mingle with the best people in the SCV and the result is a story that is highly anticipated in the community. Everyone is anxious to get the results of the tour and to get the maps and directions to the best-dressed homes and streets. Again this year we were happy to be of service.

Aug. 14 - Aug. 20
