Deputies searched for but could not find two men who allegedly tried to rob another man at knifepoint in Canyon Country on Monday afternoon, officials said.

The incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. near an apartment complex in the 27000 block of Sierra Highway, said Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Tom Bryski.

The man, who was uninjured, called deputies who first searched the complex and later scoured the Santa Clara River near Sierra Highway and Soledad Canyon Road, Bryski said.

About 6 p.m., deputies stopped searching the wash because it was too dark and continued to search the surrounding area using patrol cars, Bryski added.
