Students at Pinecrest Schools in Valencia helped local California Highway Patrol officers load a truck Wednesday with board games, stuffed animals and other toys they collected for children in need, authorities said.

Preschool and elementary school students donated 470 unwrapped gifts to the local CHP station’s annual holiday toy drive, said CHP officer John Lutz.

Staff members also donated money to purchase two children’s bicycles — one for a boy, and one for a girl, said Principal Kristine Hughes.
