Lunetta's conclusion is hardly logical

Cherry-picking “gotcha” phrases from e-mail the authenticity of which is not confirmed by the University of East Anglia, Steve Lunetta (“Climategate,” Nov. 30) concludes the basis of the science behind climate change is “false and misleading.”

Now that is a logical, scientific and well-documented conclusion.

Authenticity aside, there is no evidence in the e-mail of a worldwide conspiracy, no admission that global warming is a hoax and no evidence of falsifying data.

In fact quite the opposite. The e-mail portrays a scientific community that is not a monolith. Instead, there is interaction, conflict, disagreement, frustration and discussion. Like most e-mail not for public consumption, it is at times frank and open. Perhaps Lunetta will share his personal e-mail with the public. I’m sure with some careful editing I can portray him as an Obama supporter!
