Snow is coming to downtown Los Angeles Dec. 12 and 13, as part of the Free Winter Holiday Festival at Pershing Square, where live entertainment, puppet shows, a miniature train village, make and take arts & crafts, photo mementos and more, get you in the holiday spirit.

Made possible by the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation & Parks, hours for the Winter Holiday Festival are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The location at 532 South Olive is also home to L.A.'s largest outdoor holiday skating rink, Downtown on Ice, open everyday through Jan. 18, 2010 with the admission of $8 (includes skate rental).

On Saturday, the "Kids Are 1st " organization will have a booth offering free child ID services and child car seat safety checks to help protect children and educate families.

Adding to the yuletide glee, sans fee, Pershing Square gets transformed into a winter wonderland for the weekend. Pershing Square is easily accessible by car, bus or rail. Ride Metro or Metrolink to get there and receive a $1 off with a coupon available on all mass transit lines. The Pershing Square stop makes it convenient. Underground parking is available at a discount with rink validation.
