Look at the change

Time flies.

One year ago, on Nov. 3, 2008, we the American people voted for a change.

In January 2009, we got the change that was desperately needed. It hasn’t been an year yet and a few changes have been made.

I’m going to “accent the positive and eliminate the negative.”

A depression has been averted, the recession showing signs of life; the bailout of the auto industry, which is the backbone of America, is showing signs of life; the stock market has rebounded; the war in Afghanistan has not escalated and no new troops have been sent; the swine flu has been called a state of emergency, rightly so, and health care reform is being debated and chugging along.

I haven’t forgotten about the unemployment rate, but “we shall overcome” and “we shall rise again.”

Any football coach would like the yardage that has been racked up, bar the penalties. Any basketball coach would like the amount of baskets that have been made, bar the fouls.

Having women join in a golf game with the boys — basketball will be next — added a lighter touch to the agenda.

Not allowing cynics to be too cynical is an achievement in itself. Now let’s hear the “crepe-hanging” comments from the cynics.
