Forest roads to reopen

All roads running through the Angeles National Forest, including Angeles Forest Highway, will reopen Monday after being closed for nearly three months due to the Station Fire.

The fire burned 250 square miles of Angeles National Forest in late August and early September. Extensive repairs on Angeles Crest and other forest roads were required.

The roads give commuters an alternative to driving freeways from the Antelope Valley into the Los Angeles area.

Although the roads reopen Monday, some closures will still occur as repairs are completed. Commuters also are advised the roads will be closed to all traffic when moderate to heavy rainfall is predicted or is falling in the area due to the threat of debris flows.

Public Works will provide affected commuters and residents with as much advance warning as possible of anticipated road closures.

These warnings will include message boards, news radio alerts and media releases.
