Sunday, Dec. 6, 2 p.m. - Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital will officially kick off the holiday season with the annual Community Tree Lighting. The three-hour event begins at 2 p.m. and features holiday entertainment, refreshments, children's crafts and activities, and letters to Santa. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at 2:30 p.m. and will be available for photos from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The conclusion of the event will take place at 5 p.m. with the lighting of the tree. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their friends will again board the Metrolink's Holiday Toy Express to bring cheer to Southern California this holiday season. For the 13th consecutive year, Santa's glittering train will travel from city to city, entertaining families and collecting toys for those in need of some holiday goodwill. The 450-ton train will be decorated with holiday displays and 50,000 twinkling lights - and deliver a live musical performance, Santa and community fun.
Bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the Southland Firefighters' "Spark of Love" toy drive.

Saturday, Dec. 5, 7 p.m. - The Friends of Hart park and Museum are hosting a holiday concert in the William S. Hart Museum to honor the 145th birthday of William S. Hart. Cowboys and Carols will feature entertainment by the Cross Town Cowboys, refreshments will be served and guests will tour the Hart Museum, which will be decorated in holiday splendor. Dec. 11, 12 and 13, 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. This free, outdoor, walk-through or drive-through event takes place on three consecutive evenings. This year Bethlehem Lutheran Ministries will be presenting this living pageant of Jesus' life with more than 200 costumed participants and at least 100 behind the scenes volunteers. Donations accepted of non-perishable food and personal items for the charitable organizations that feed and care for the needy in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The Chorale kicks off its 10th concert season with a merry collection of traditional holiday favorites, including Britten's captivating "Ceremony of Carols" with harp accompaniment. The musical celebration continues with a carol sing-along, well-loved seasonal favorites from classical to gospel and an invitation to "Let it Ring, Let it Swing, Let it Snow."
