Because of health concerns, Saugus High School Lead Campus Supervisor Sonia Gutierrez will be leaving the school in December.

She is currently awaiting a liver transplant.

Gutierrez came to Saugus High after noticing an advertisement in the local newspaper recruiting grandparents and parents.

She responded quickly and got the job.

As she looks back over the nearly 21 years she has been at the school, she said she remembers attending all the Saugus graduations and enjoyed interacting with the students.

She hopes the students will continue to feel comfortable talking with the staff.

“I promise to return for the 2010 graduation ceremony,” she said.

Emily Kerr is a freshman at Saugus High School.
