Why I’ll no longer vote For ‘Buck’ McKeon

Dear Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon,

In exactly nine days, my family and I are being evicted from our home of 20 years as a result of a work-related spinal injury in 2005, which was misdiagnosed by a state examiner who concurrently works for insurance companies as an "expert medical witness" in jury trials.

Due to this conflict of interest or a misguided allegiance to the insurance companies who employed him, this examiner wrote what is best described as a malicious and clearly misleading report, allowing for an easy denial of my Workers Compensation claim by my employer's Workers Comp. insurer.

Following two years of denied and delayed treatment, as my use of my legs declined, I finally received the needed spinal fusion, with neurosurgeons confirming my injury was indeed work-related, with a Social Security disability judge having reviewed all medical records, declared me permanently, totally disabled two weeks after surgery.

You can't imagine how devastating the impact this state-appointed physician's erroneous conclusion has had on my three children, let alone my wife and I (financially, emotionally and socially).

The contempt I hold for health insurers is immeasurable.

And for you, McKeon, to do everything in your power to fight to protect the insurer's ability to rake in billions in profits, while arrogantly thumbing their noses at those who have paid for their services and are denied due to the adversarial stance insurers take, is beyond comprehension.

These reasons are why I will no longer be voting for you as I have for the past decades I've been a resident in this great community.

My struggle with Big Insurance and a local orthopedic physician who misdiagnosed me is documented at
