Need more coverage of real football

I appreciate the comments made by the West Ranch parent (“Neglecting real football news in the SCV,” Nov. 19) about the David and Goliath story getting little coverage.

There is an equally important story being made this weekend at Valencia High School. No, not the Valencia teams, but the feeder teams to all of the high schools in the Santa Clarita Valley.

That’s right — real youth football playoff games are being played by players who don’t mind the physical aspect and don’t wear flags to avoid being tackled. There are teams from Burbank, Canyon and Santa Clarita playing real football.

Also, to the parent who boasted about West Ranch, in an effort to reduce the throwing game of Valencia they had the portable light moved back so far off the field that if the ball went more than 20 feet in the air it was lost in darkness.

Next time they should try playing at Valencia where they can afford a real stadium.
